I’m taking a little break from the Sears Catalog to do some Christmas themed posts, namely Dear Santa letters.
Publishing local children’s Christmas wish lists in the newspaper has been a tradition since the late 19th century. These Dear Santa letters offer a fascinating, often hilarious and occasionally heartbreaking look into the history of childhood, economics and the origins of Christmas traditions.
My favorite ones don’t correct the spelling of the original letters.
