A letter written home by John T. Scheuerell, Jr., a young marine stationed at what is now Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, on the morning of December 7th, 1941. (Exactly 70 years ago this morning.)
He had yet to hear of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which would have been underway as he was writing this.
I get goosebumps every time I read this letter.
